Anne Jeannette's Story
During the summer after graduating from Hoover, I decided to change my major from religious studies to education so I lost my scholarship to CalWestern University. My first real world shock! Fortunately, I was admitted as one of the first students to attend the brand new Grossmont College! Life progressed ... college, marriage, welcoming the birth of my son, our family move to Alaska where my daughter was born. Then, 7 years later, a divorce behind me, I moved my little family back to California. My career started in the newspaper field, evolved to a court clerk managing a municipal courthouse in Santa Barbara and eventually managing law firms. Along the way, I met and married the love of my life, Jerry Rankin. He was a political reporter covering the President and a member of the Whitehouse press corp.

Yosemite National Park. Eventually, reality struck and we went back to work. Looking for something "less stressful", I became a Realtor!? So, 20 some years later, covering 3 counties in Central California, I have a delightful, successful team. We work for a large independent brokerage, recently purchased by Berkshire Hathaway. I now look forward to a gentle retirement, playing with my grandsons, traveling and just listening to the river in my back yard.
The years at Hoover are a blur but I have fond memories of running on the track team, participating in the debate team competitions and watching the football games!
Least fond memory: the day I drove into San Diego with my two grade school children to visit family. It was just about dusk when I told my children that just around the corner they would my high school.
Unfortuately, it was the day our old building was knocked down! Dust, swinging metal balls, debris fields...what a shock!
